Meet Martin Zip, Chair of the Planning Committe.  Thank you Martin for leading us through the process of building a survey to help discover the thoughts and feelings of the Parishioners of St. George's Ukrainian Orthodox Church!  Here is a mini interview that Martin kindly agreed to:

Where did you spend your formative years?

My formative years were spent in Yellow Creek, Saskatchewan. Yellow Creek is located in Northeast Saskatchewan. After graduating from Yellow Creek High School, I went on to the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon and graduated with a BA degree and a Professional A Teaching Certificate.

What size is the family you came from?

A family of eight – however, two died in infancy. In our family there were seven boys and one girl. The girl is the baby in the family! After seven tries, mother finally got a daughter!

How would you describe your immediate and extended family? Close. We’re in touch with one another and no family squabbles to speak off!

What is your favourite part of the Divine Liturgy? Communion. Partaking of the Eucharist fulfills the Lord’s commandment to do so.

What words of wisdom would you give to a parishioner who would like to do the reading at the Divine Liturgy? Go for it, especially if you are younger.

Do you have a prayer for the future of St. George's church
?
O saint of God, St. George, pray to God for us, for our homes, our families and our Church family.  Pray to God for our future as a parish, for growth both numerically and spiritually, O Saint George, for you are well-pleasing to God. Amen.
