August Pastoral Message

Glory be to Jesus Christ!
 
Now that August is upon us I hope that everyone is enjoying their summer! As many of you know, I was away for 2 weeks in July attending the SOBOR. In the next few days I will be sending out a comprehensive report on the Resolutions that were passed at the SOBOR and the results of the elections. In the meantime if you wish to see some of what occurred during the SOBOR many pictures and audio files from the SOBOR are available on the UOCC website, www.UOCC.ca.

                With the summertime now upon us it is the time of year where we relax and let loose for a couple months. But is important during this time not to forget about our church and our faith, I found this article written by Fr. Andrew Jarmus several years ago and I found it speaks a good message for all of us to remember this summer. June Pastoral Message

        On May 9th we celebrated the Patron Saint feast day of St. George, prior to this service I was asked who exactly St. George is and how did he become a saint, so I decided that for my sermon I would tell about St. George and his life. With this in mind I thought it would be good not only to publish for this month’s message the life of St. George but as well the specifics behind why we call the Theotokos, St. Mary the Protectress.

May Pastoral Message

Christ is Risen!
It is with great pleasure and utmost pride that I announce to you the birth of our son, Noah Leonard Lloyd Haugen, who was born at 9:14 PM on Friday April 16th. He is 8 pounds 15 ounces and 51 1/2 cm long and is absolutely beautiful! His wonderful arrival came a few days earlier than expected and with that in mind, instead of writing a pastoral message for this month, I am simply sharing a story with you. I will share a pastoral message and include the “Answered Questions” later on in the month.

Христос Воскрес! Воістину Воскрес!
 
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
            This month we will celebrate not just the most important feast of our church year, but the most important event of our lives. With Christ’s sacrifice and His Holy Resurrection He has given us a chance at a new life, one which we all hope will lead us to be with Him in Paradise. Instead of writing a pastoral message of my own, I felt it only appropriate to put my pride aside and convey this Pastoral message for our Patriarch.
