Vancouver Island Parochial District

Welcome!

Welcome to the website of the Vancouver Island Parochial District of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada. We consist of two parishes on Vancouver Island, BC: St. George's in Victoria and St. Mary the Protectress in Parksville. Please visit the separate pages (via tabs at the top of this page) of each Parish for information about church activities and social events. The service schedule for both churches can be found to the left of this page. Services are in a combination of the Ukrainian and English language. We consider ourselves vibrant and active parishes with worship services every Sunday (in an alternating fashion), Vespers services on Saturdays (also alternating), and most recently have introduced Liturgies on certain major Feast Days. Following Sunday Divine Liturgies we invite those in attendance to join us for fellowship coffee and a light lunch. We also enjoy activities such as Bible Studies, Choir, Sunday School for children, Pyrohy Work Bees and Dinners, Baking, and various other activities. Both parishes publish a monthly newsletter which can also be found online under the respective Parish's section. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us!

Mission Statement

To encourage and promote the Orthodox Faith in an environment which is welcoming and nurturing. In addition, to sustain and embrace the Ukrainian heritage and culture in a manner which includes persons of non-Ukrainian descent. The Historical Church

The Orthodox Church was founded by our Lord Jesus Christ on Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles.  The historic faith has been handed down in unbroken continuity for 2000 years.
